Biomass

Much like the fossil fuel industry attempted to build dozens of export facilities for coal, oil and gas across the PNW over the last several decades, our communities now face a similar threat in the form of proposed biomass export terminals, which would grind up our forests into wood pellets to be shipped overseas and burned for electricity generation. In the same way that community-led resistance killed nearly all the fossil fuel export proposals, whether our PNW forests are go up in flames in power plants will depend on whether our communities stand together and stand up against the international corporations behind these proposals.

The biomass working group is made up of organizations and individuals involved in challenging the expansion of the biomass industry across the PNW. Members of the working group coordinate resistance against proposed biomass export terminals, track and advocate around federal & state policy making related to biomass, and work to weave together disparate efforts into a larger unified regional movement.
